Starting therapy services at Swing for the Stars:
  • Intake: The intake process involves a phone conversation with a therapist where you are able to share your concerns about your child and what information you are looking for from an evaluation. The therapist will determine if an occupational therapy evaluation necessary. If an evaluation is recommended for your child you will be asked to fill out a developmental and medical history form and return it prior the scheduled evaluation date.

  • Evaluation: A detailed evaluation is necessary prior to beginning treatment to identify the child's specific areas of concern which will help in the development of a treatment plan based on the unique needs of the child. The evaluation will also help determine the frequency for therapeutic services.

  • Treatment: Depending on the results of the evaluation, the therapist may recommend individual therapy, paired therapy, a treatment intensive, or group therapy. Your child's therapist will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan based on your child's needs, and will help you create goals for treatment. You will be given home programming suggestions to help carry over treatment strategies and accommodations into the child's natural environment in order to maximize treatment results.
